The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of four students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ramhan Nansel, said the abduction occurred in the early hours of Tuesday after the gunmen invaded the Ungwan Ka’are area.
He, however, said the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba, had ordered the manhunt of the culprits to rescue the victims unhurt.
“The command is aware of the kidnapping. At about 12:55 am, a distress call was received that a house located at Angwan Kaare in Keffi was invaded by unidentified armed men.
“The police, in collaboration with the military, responded accordingly and combed the area, but to no avail.
“The Commissioner of Police has ordered a manhunt for the culprits with a view to rescuing the four victims unhurt”, Mr Nansel said.
The victims are Rahila Hanya, a 100-level student of the Science Laboratory Technology department; Josephine Gershon, a Computer Science 100-level student; Rosemary Samuel, a 100-level student of Business Administration; and Goodness Samuel, a 100 level student of the Geography department.
When contacted, the information and protocol officer of the institution, Abraham Ekpo also confirmed the abduction.
“We got a report from the security agencies confirming the abduction of four students. And the police and other security agencies are working to ensure the release of the victims,” he said.
