Police nab 2 armed robbery gangs, recover AK47 in Katsina

The Katsina Police Command has arrested two armed robbery gangs that had been terrorising the people of the state.

Benson Gwana, Commissioner of Police in Katsina, disclosed this while parading the arrested armed robbery suspects on Saturday in Katsina.

He said the command had similarly recovered one AK 47 rifle and one locally made pistol from the armed robbery suspects.

“On Jan. 6, at about 18:30hrs (6:00pm) based on a tip-off, the police arrested Usman Lawal, Umaru Audu, Ibrahim Abubakar, Bashir Adamu and Gambo Musa, alias Killer.

“The suspects were arrested at Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

“The police recovered a locally made pistol in their possession, some fake dollar currencies and seven GSM handsets.

“On Dec. 31, 2017 the Katsina Police Command also succeeded in bursting another gang of armed robbery suspects in Daura zone of the state.’’ Gwana said.

He added that police also arrested Shafiu Lawal, Tasiu Abdu and Abdullahi Lawal who mounted road block on Maibara to Yanduna road in Daura senatorial zone and robbed people plying the road.

“The police ambushed and arrested them while at the scene of the crime.”

“Police also recovered one AK-47 rifle in a criminal hideout and the owner had already being arrested and taken to Force Headquarter, Abuja for interrogation,” he said.

Mr Gwana called on members of the public to always provide useful information about criminals and their activities in the state.
