Plateau State Police Command has announced a major breakthrough in its fight against crime, following a recovery of 500 rounds of live ammunition during a tactical raid in Jos North Local Government Area of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, made the disclosure during a press briefing held on Wednesday at the Command Headquarters in Jos.

Mr Adesina described the recovery as a significant step in ensuring safety and security across the state.

“The operation took place on Friday, April 5, 2025, at approximately 9:40 p.m. Acting on credible intelligence, officers raided a suspected criminal hideout along Bauchi Road.

“During the search, they discovered an abandoned ash-coloured Golf Wagon (registration number: JJN 812 AH), which contained 500 rounds of 7.65mm ammunition,” he said.

According to the CP, the raid was part of an ongoing investigation into a culpable homicide case reported on April 3, where an unidentified individual was killed.

The CP noted that the ammunition recovery could be linked to the suspects behind the murder.

“We are making frantic efforts to arrest the perpetrators and recover their operational weapons,” Mr Adesina said.

He, therefore, urged residents to support the Command’s work by providing relevant information that could aid ongoing investigations.

The CP assured citizens that the Command remains committed to its mandate of protecting lives and property.

“We are resolute in creating a secure and habitable environment for all Plateau residents,” he added.
