Police recover bodies of drowned girls in Bauchi

The Bauchi state police command has recovered three bodies of drowned girls in Konkiel town of Darazo local government area of the state.

The recovery of the bodies was preceded by a report of three missing girls from one Samaila Magaji of the town, said the spokesman, Haruna Mohammed, in a statement.

The names of the declared missing girls were “Aisha Abdulmumin aged seven years, Aisha Abdulmumin aged five years and, Amina Abdulmumin aged three years all of same address left home to play but were later discovered unconscious at a nearby stream.

“Police patrol team attached to Darazo division visited the scene and rushed them to General hospital Darazo for medical attention. A medical doctor certified victims dead on arrival.

“Corpses photographed and deposited at the Mortuary for post-mortem examination after which they would be released to relatives for burial according to Islamic Rites,” it said.

The command however said the case is under investigation to ascertain actual cause of the incident.

It then urged parents and guardians to caution their children to stay away from streams or rivers in order not to fall victims of drowning especially during this period rainy season.
