The police on Thursday paraded and named 48 suspected gangs of kidnappers, armed robbers, cattle rustlers and car snatchers terrorising the FCT, Niger, Kaduna, Plateau, Katsina, Nasarawa and Zamfara States.

Parading the suspects at Bosso, Niger State, the spokesman for the police, Jimoh Moshood, said the police also arrested a gang that fabricates locally-made prohibited firearms.

Mr Moshood, a chief superintendent of police, said the suspects confessed to their crimes.

“They have confessed to the various criminal roles they played in the commission of the crime.

“Investigation is ongoing to arrest other members of the gangs still at large. All suspects would be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.

“Members of the public whose vehicles were either stolen from where parked or snatched at gun point in the recent times should proceed to the Niger State Police Headquarters for identification and collection with documents of proof of ownership.

“The renewed commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to guarantee protection of Lives and Property across the country remains unequivocal,” he added.
