The Niger State Governor, Sani Bello, has declared Thursday November 10 a statewide public holiday to allow citizens to participate in the local government council election.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission, NSIEC, has insisted on conducting the election against the resolution of the State House of Assembly asking the electoral body to suspend it.

Recall also that the state house of assembly on September 27, recommended the sacking of NSIEC boss, Baba Aminu, over alleged incompetence and partisanship.

Mr Matane revealed that the governor had directed all security agencies in the state to ensure violence-free local government elections, stressing that the government is committed to safeguarding and guaranteeing a hitch-free process.
