The Image Merchants Promotions Limited, IMPR, publishers of the popular online newspaper, PRNigeria and Economic Confidential magazine has opened an ultra-modern centre in Kano.
Speaking at the occasion on Thursday, Chairman and founder of PRNigeria, Yushau Shuaibu said the centre would be dedicated to the training and mentoring of those inclined to investigative journalism and Public Relations practice.
He added that the centre would also serve as a centre for conferences and seminars in collaboration with critical stakeholders such as NIPR and Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.
According to him, the centre, the first of its kind in Kano, would be effectively utilized to mentor youth who develop passion in journalism and Public Relations practice.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that after the commissioning ceremony of the centre, Mr Shuaibu also announced his voluntary retirement from public service after 25 years and celebrated his 50th birthday at the center.
A graduate of Mass Communication, Bayero University Kano, Mr Shuaibu holds a master’s degree in Public Relations from the University of Westminster, London.
He had won several awards in public relations practice and writing. This is in addition to working as a spokesperson for government institutions, including the Federal Ministries of Information, Finance and Health at various times.
He was also Head of Press and Public Relations at the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC and National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA.
