Praxis online magazine ‘hangs out’ in Kano, introduces Hausa platform

Praxis Magazine Online has launched a new platform, https://gatananku.com/, to cater to the teeming Hausa readers across the country.

The Founder and Publisher of the Praxis Magazine Online, Tee Jay Dan, made the disclosure during the July 20th edition of its hangout which took place at the American Space, Murtala Muhammad Library, Kano State.

According to Mr Dan, who was represented by Dr. Ismael Bala, the platform would be publishing prose, poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction written in Hausa Language.

“It will also publish texts translated into Hausa. It hopes to follow that with podcasts, scriptwriting and films in future,” Mr Dan added.

“I believe with no doubt that the time is ripe for us to have a platform specially dedicated to the production of quality literature in Hausa language.

“This is why we are starting ‘Gatanan Gatanan Ku’, a subsidiary of Praxis Magazine (one of the fastest-growing digital platforms for arts and literature on the continent).

“This is something I have dreamed about doing for a long time and I FEEL this is the right time to make it happen,” Mr Dan stressed.

Meanwhile, during the hangout which focused discourse around mental health, the Guest Speaker, Dr. Mustapha Ibrahim Gudaji, who is well versed on psychiatry and drug abuse, provided a better understanding of mental illnesses from a medical perspective.

He also was able to discuss depression, suicide, post-partum depression.

He, therefore, attribution of mental illnesses to lack of spirituality.

Mr Gudaji urged Nigerians to treat people with mental health challenges as they would any human.

Added that people should help reduce the stigma placed around seeking help for mental illnesses.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the hangout was attended by the likes of Balaraba Ramat, Writer/Film Producer; Association of Nigerian Authors’ chairman, Kano chapter, Zaharaddeen Kallah; Dr. Maryam Ali Ali of Virtual Authors and; the winner of this years’ Wole Soyinka International Cultural Exchange Essay Competition, Mujaheed Ameen Lilo; amongst others.
