The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, has arrested a 22-year-old pregnant woman, Veronica Boniface, for stabbing her husband to death over alleged phone call with a girlfriend.
Parading the suspect at the command headquarters in Lafia, the NSCDC state commandant, Habu Fari, said the woman was arrested in Obene town of Keana Local Government Area of the state, after an intelligence report.
Mr Fari explained that a medical examination conducted on the suspect on the suspected confirmed her to be medically fine.
The commandant, therefore, added that the command, after concluding investigations, would arraign the suspect before competent court.
“The husband was rushed to the hospital after she stabbed him with a knife when they quarrel over a phone call she was suspecting that it was a lady that called him.
“We found out that she has a two-and-a-half-year-old baby and now in the hands of the relations of the husband, Late Mohammed,” Mr Fari disclosed.
Speaking with newsmen, Veronica said she regretted her action and pleaded for leniency.
The suspect disclosed that has a one-month-old pregnancy for the late husband.
She explained that it was the handiwork of the devil, saying that her intention was to scare the husband and collect the phone, but eventually ended up killing him.
