A former President Goodluck Jonathan and a former Vice President Atiku Abubakar were among the dignitaries who attended the wedding fatiha of Yusuf Buhari, the son of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Yusuf tied the knot with Zahra Nasiru Bayero, daughter of the Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Ado-Bayero at Bichi town in Kano state.
The wedding was also attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo serving and former governors, as well as prominent personalities from within and outside the country.
Also in attendance was the immediate-past president of Niger Republic Mahamadou Issoufou.
The Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, governors of Sokoto and Adamawa states, Aminu Tambuwal and Ahmadu Fintiri respectively also graced the occasion.
Others include Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isah Pantami; Minister of Interior, Ra’uf Aregbesola; Senate President, Ahmed Lawal; other members of the Senate and House of Representatives were also there.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the solemnization was performed by Mr Pantami after the groom paid the sum of N500,000 as dowry.
The much-awaited wedding, which was conducted at the Central Mosque of Bichi at 2pm after the Juma’at Prayer, had caused traffic gridlock within the town and its environs.
Business activities were paralyzed as people thronged the venue of the wedding to witness the event.
This newspaper gathered that VIPs had since Thursday thronged Kano state, exerting pressure on hotel bookings across the state.
There had been presence of armed security personnel since Wednesday, as the state witnesses twin ceremonies of the Buhari’s son’s wedding and the coronation of the father of the bride on Saturday.
