Men of the Nigerian Prisons Service Armed Squad unit, Lagos State Command have prevented a suspected kidnap kingpin from making a bold escape.

The suspect, Chizoba Okoye, who was standing trial for several cases of kidnapping at Ebute-Meta Magistrate Court in Lagos, was gunned down in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to a statement by the Prisons spokesperson, Lagos State Command, Rotimi Oladokun, the incident happened after the case was adjourned and the escort team was leading him to the holding cell in the court premises.

“Thinking he could escape the watchful eyes of the armed guards, Mr Okoye suddenly took to his heels defiling verbal warnings and warning shots from the armed men.
