A motley crowd of protesters on Thursday stormed the premises of the Presidential Villa chanting support songs of the ailing president Muhammadu Buhari.
The protest could been seen as an answer to the one spearheaded by Charly Boys on Monday, who demanded for the president’s “Resume or Resign” as he continues his medical stay in London, extending to three months.
Dozens of protesters on Monday defied heavy rain and matched to the Villa with banners urging that the 74-year-old return.
“Resume or resign, Nigerians said in their placards “enough is enough,” with others stating: “If president Buhari cannot return to Nigeria after 90 days, then he should resign and go home”, and “Buhari, where are you? Nigerians want full disclosure. What is wrong with our president?”
However, Thursday’s placard-carrying protesters matched unharassed to the Villa in a counter-demonstration showing the administration all the needed support against yearnings of the other group.
With the loud chant of “four more years,” they also hoisted their placards, some of which read “We reposed confidence on President Buhari.”
Hundreds of supporters participated in the demonstrations with dozens of police officers and women on standby for protection.
