Professor Habu Mohammed takes over as director of Mambayya House

Professor Habu Mohammed has officially taken over the mantle of administration as the new director of the BUK’s Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic Studies, Mambayya House.

According to the university’s bulletin, he took over from Prof. Ismaila Zango, who served two terms as director of the centre.

The official handing over took place at the boardroom of the centre on Thursday, October 6, the bulletin said.

A professor of Political Science from the Department of Political Science, BUK, Mr Mohammed was until his appointment the director of Bayero University Press.

He was a two-term Deputy Director (Research and Documentation) at Mambayya House and former Deputy Director Strategic Planning Unit, BUK.

Mr Mohammed was one-time head, Department of Political Science and is presently the chairman of the Nigeria Political Science Association, NPSA, Northwest Zone.

Speaking at the event, the outgoing director described the appointment of the new director as a well-deserved and a transition that will leverage on the mission and vision of the centre.

Mr Zango said considering the fact that Mr Mohammed had been part and parcel of the centre since its inception, he was fully involved in the activities of the centre.

He thanked the vice chancellor, Prof. Sagir Abbas for the opportunity given to him and prayed to Allah to give the new director the wisdom, knowledge and determination to succeed.

He expressed optimism that the new director would elevate the Centre to greater heights. He further urged the staff of the centre to usher the new Ddrector all the necessary support and cooperation towards discharging his duties.

In his remarks, the new director thanked the outgoing Director for the remarkable achievements he recorded.
