The management of Bayero University, Kano, BUK, has announced the suspension of academic activities due to the ongoing nationwide #endbadgovernance protest.
The announcement is contained in a statement issued by the university’s spokesperson, Lamara Garba, on Monday.
Mr Garba noted that the Vice-Chancellor commended the university community for maintaining peace on campus.
“After a careful review of the situation in Kano State as a result of the National Protest, the university management has directed that all scheduled lectures should be suspended forthwith,” the statement read.
Mr Garba added that academic and administrative activities would resume once normalcy returns.
He urged students residing on campus to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring them of their safety.
“Students residing on the campuses are advised to continue to remain calm and law-abiding, as adequate arrangements have been put in place to ensure their safety.
“The management, in particular, is concerned with the safety of lives and property and, therefore, enjoins the members of the university community to continue to be cautious about their movements outside the campuses in order to avoid exposure to any possible danger,” the statement added.
