Screen diva Rahma Sadau says it is difficult for women to pursue their career in the Northern part of Nigeria.
“Life in northern Nigeria for a woman that wants to be something in the future is full of challenges,” Rahama Sadau was quoted as saying in a chat with Thisday newspaper.
Rahama who was expelled last year from Kannywood by the Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, MOPPAN, for making contact with a man in a music video.
MOPPAN considered as unethical the appearance of the actress in the video alongside a Jos-based musician ClassiQ.
Rahama attributed her successes in the entertainment industry to her expulsion from Kannywood.
She said her expulsion from the industry had opened many windows of opportunities to her in the movie industry both at home and abroad.
The actress however disclosed that she will always take into consideration her culture and background before accepting a role in Nollywood films or any film industry within or outside the country.
Sadau had earlier refused to take up a role in one of the Nollywood films as lesbian in recognition of her cultural and religious background.
