Richard Akindele, an Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife professor dragged to court for demanding sex to pass one of his students, on Monday changed his plea.
On November 27, the Federal High court sitting in Osogbo declined the bail application of Mr Akindele, who was earlier arraigned by Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, for allegedly demanding sex in exchange for marks from Monica Osagie, a postgraduate student of the institution.
The presiding Judge, Justice Maureen Onyetenu had earlier adjourned for definite trial and hearing application for bail but asked that Mr Akindele be remanded in prison.

But appearing on Monday, Mr Akindele changed his plea from ‘not guilty’ to ‘guilty’ plea.
The prosecutor, Shogunle Adenekan, therefore said all parties in the matter have reach plea bargain and pleaded for a suspended sentence for the accused.
The matter was stood down for one hour.
