A former managing director of the defunct Continental Merchant Bank, Professor Ibrahim Ayagi, has been arraigned before a Kano senior magistrate’s court over cases of sexual assault on male students of his college.

Professor Ayagi, who is the proprietor of Hassan Gwarzo College, was arraigned alongside the principal of the college, Muhammad Bashir Jimo, and two security men, Kabir Sa’ad and Ado Umar.

In October last year, a report aired on a Kano private radio station, Freedom Radio, on the series of sodomy cases in the school, sparked outrage and forced the state government to shut the school and set up an investigation panel.

DAILY NIGERIAN had reported the reopening of the school yesterday by the Kano State government after three months of closure, following alleged sexual assault on male students by some unidentified persons last year.

Government reached the decision to reopen the school after weekly Executive Council Meeting on Wednesday, asking the school to inculcate moral teachings in the students, employ enough guards and install CCTV cameras to monitor activities.
