Renowned Kano industrialist, Nasiru Ahali, dies at 108

A renowned Kano industrialist and chairman of Mainsara & Sons, Nasiru Ahali, has died aged 108.

His son, Ahmad Ahali, confirmed the death to DAILY NIGERIAN, saying his father died at a hospital in Kano on Thursday night.

The nonagenarian was one of the pioneer industrialists in Kano, reputed to setting up a formal business environment with organisational structure.

He was into book publishing, printing, block manufacturing, quarry business, importation, general contracts, estate development, metal works, among others.

During Maitatsine uprising in Kano, the insurgents invaded his house on December 18, 1980, held family hostage and later executed two of his sons.

The funeral prayer will take place at Nasiru Ahali Jummu’a Mosque, Kurna Asabe at 1pm on Friday.
