The member representing Koko-Besse/Maiyama in the House of Representatives, Shehu Koko, has emerged as the best performing elected official in Kebbi State, following a statewide poll conducted by the Nigerian Youth Vanguard for Quality Representation, NYVQR.
The state’s Publicity Secretary of the organisation, Ridwan A. Abdullahi, in a statement on Sunday, disclosed that Mr Koko came first with an 89% score, followed by Kabir Tukura, member representing Zuru/Fakai/Danko-Wasagu and Sakaba LGAs who scored 85% in the National Assembly category.
According to the statement, the National Assembly category focused on people-oriented representation, youth empowerment and entrepreneurship development for youth in their respective constituencies.
In the State Assembly Category, according to the statement, the member representing Jega LGA, Faruku Aliyu Nassarawa, topped the chart with 80%, followed by the member representing Birnin Kebbi South, Hassan Namoroko, who scored 77%, while the member representing Suru LGA, Umar Altine Suru, came 3rd with 75% polls.
Similarly, the Chairman of Kalgo LGA, Shamsudeen Farouk Kalgo, has been rated as the best performing local government chairman in the state for his initiatives and programmes on Education and Youth Empowerment, while the Chairman of Jega Local Government Area scored 2nd best in the local government Chairmen’s Category.
The Youth Vanguard also congratulated Governor Atiku Bagudu Abubakar and all the elected representatives from National Assembly, State Assembly and Local Councils for a successful one year in office.
The National Leader of the orgnisation, Amb. Clement Umeoyo, congratulated the winners, urging others to do more for the people, particularly now that the economy has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
NYVQR is a youth organization aimed at accessing and scoring elected representatives in Nigeria with the focal aim of promoting quality representation of the electorate.
