Rescue operation continues in Lagos building collapse

Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, are continuing with the rescue operation in the site of the collapsed building in Lagos.

The 3-story building, which collapsed on Thursday has killed at least three people with a yet-to-be determined number still under trap.

The building, under construction, collapsed along Richard Abimbola Street, Ilasa area of Lagos and left 19 people injured.

Reports say most of the victims were labourers and workers on the site.

“Three persons were recovered dead and were taken to Lagos Mainland Mortuary Yaba,” the general manager of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Adesina Tiamiyu, said on Friday.

He said the injured were taken to Isolo General Hospital.
