Former Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu-Sheriff has reportedly been eying the National Chairmanship position of the All Progressives Congress, APC, following the dissolution of the party’s National Working Committee by President Muhammadu Buhari.
It was gathered that two former governors of Borno State, Mr Modu-Sheriff and Kashim Shetima as well as former Lagos State military governor, Buba Marwa are among the big names being touted for eyeing the national chairmanship seat.
Mr Modu-Sheriff, a former caretaker committee Chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, defected to the ruling APC on April 26, 2018.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Thursday evening, Mr Modu-Sheriff had paid a surprise visit to the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.
The former Borno State governor, who arrived the party office at about 4.15 pm, went straight to the office of the National Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, where he held a brief meeting that lasted for about 15minutes.
Although the outcome of the meeting was not disclosed to newsmen, a reliable source at the office of the chairman of the caretaker committee told The Nation that the two leaders had to leave the office for an undisclosed venue for a meeting.
