Austin Tom-George, Rivers commissioner for Information and Communication, on Friday formally resigned his appointment just as the commissioner for works got a sack.
He wrote a letter of resignation to Gov. Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt stating that his resignation would take effect from June 23.
“I wish to resign my appointment as Commissioner for Information and Communication with effect from today, June 23, 2017.
“I have handed over officially to the Director of Administration in the Ministry,” he said.
Mr Tam-George thanked Mr Wike for the opportunity given him to serve the state.
He did not give any reason for his resignation.
Mr Wike had earlier sacked the State Commissioner of Works, Bathuel Harrison.
The Governor gave the directive for the sack in a Statement issued on Thursday by his Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Mr Simeon Nwakaudu.
Nwakaudu said that the sack of the Commissioner was with immediate effect.
Wike directed the Commissioner to hand over all documents in his possession to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.
No reason was give for the sack.
