No less than 150,000 Nigerians benefited from the free health services organised recently by the Rotarians for Family Health and AIDS prevention (RFHA) of Rotary International.

The free health services, which ended at the weekend, included HIV testing, family counseling, diabetes and hypertension screening and education, breast and cervical cancers screening, polio immunisation, malaria testing and provision of long lasting insecticides nets, condom distribution, eye and dental checks, among others.

Speaking at the launch programme of the Rotary Family Health Days 2015, at the Rotary Centre, Ikeja, Lagos, Director, West Africa Operations, RFHA, Rotarian Olugbemiga Olowu, said, the vision and mission of RHFA was to improve upon the lives of vulnerable children and families by mobilising Rotarians and partner organisations globally in the fight against HIV/AIDS and other diseases.

The agenda, according to Olowu, was to develop a strong public/private partnership programme in response to the needs of people, which was in view of Africa’s high mortality rate from either infectious diseases or non-communicable diseases.
