The House of Representatives member representing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, Haruna Maitala, has donated no fewer than 250 rams and cattle to orphanage homes, physically challenged persons and other less privileged members of his constituent to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

While distributing the items to the beneficiaries on Friday, the lawmaker, represented by one of his legislative aides, Abdulqadir Alhassan, said the gesture was part of his efforts at mitigating the hard economic impact on his constituents.

He, therefore, urged the people “to be patience with the current realities on ground”.

Speaking with our correspondent, the Executive Director, An-Warul Faidah Orphanage, Sheikh Haris Salihu, commended the lawmaker, saying that the gesture would bring happiness and smiles to more than 40 orphans under their care.

“We are happy and grateful that as orphanage we are remembered to benefit from Hon. Haruna Maitala’s gesture.

“A cow was donated to us. Last year too it was given and may Allah reward him,” he said.

A less privileged member of the society, Uba Sani, said, “I had given up that this year I will slaughter a sacrificial ram, but thanks to Allah, Alhaji Haurna has provided to me.”
