Arsenal’s Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez celebrates after scoring the opening goal of the English Premier League football match between Arsenal and Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium in London on November 27, 2016.

Arsenal fans have taken to twitter to plead with their iconic striker, Alexis Sanchez, not to leave the club for China, where he has been offered a £400,000 a week salary.

Arsenal have been having a hard time tying down the Chilean, whose contract expires in 2018, but the new approach from China has further complicated things for the Gunners.

Sanchez currently earns £130,000 a week in wages, but the Gunners want him to commit his long term future to the club on a bigger pay. Sanchez, however, is reported to be asking for far more than the £180, 000 a week being offered by the London club.

Reports say Sanchez and another key player in Mesut Ozil want the same £290,000 a week pay being enjoyed by Paul Pogba at Manchester United. This offer by Chinese clubs would make Sanchez one of the best paid players in the world.

A number of top European clubs have been on high alert because of Sanchez’ prolonged contract negotiations with Arsenal. However even they may not have the financial might to match up to the Chinese Super League offer.

The current highest paid player in the world is Argentine winger, Ezequiel Lavezzi, £493,000 playing for Chinese club, Hebei China Fortune. Lionel Messi, who is yet to sign a new contract with Barcelona, currently earns £270,000-a -week, while Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo earns £365,000 a week wage, just as his teammate, Gareth Bale, gets £350,000 after tax.
