The Buhari Campaign Organisation, BCO, has berated Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, for making what it described as empty accusations against President Muhammadu Buhari over the dethronement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as emir of Kano.
The BCO’s national coordinator, Danladi Pasali, in the statement on Wednesday, said the disposition of both Mr Kwankwaso and CUPP has confirmed them to be “wailers” against the President, describing their statements as “plain falsehood” and “noise of empty drums”.
“It is a known fact that Kwankwaso is still battling with the injuries of political defeat against him by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 over his ambition of becoming President, and since then his disposition on any matter has been against the image of Mr. President.
“Kwankwaso’s assertions, alleging that President Buhari had ordered the dethronement of the Emir, are nothing but a plain falsehood, and such assertion is a mere hype than substance, which is very unfortunate,” it said.
The BCO said, on the other hand, the accusation made by CUPP, could best be described as a noise of an empty drum.
“For the sake of emphasis, Mr. President has maintained his neutrality in a matter that pertains to exclusive rights of the judiciary, State Government, Local Government or legislature, as enshrined in our constitution, much less in the affairs of traditional institutions which are exclusively guaranteed to their State Governors,” the BCO said.
It added that the UNPP’s accusation was a clear manifestation of its failure as opposition party to canvass true and objective critics that would aid the government in discharging its duties.
The BCO said, although it does not hold brief for the Kano State Government, “nonetheless, we hold that of the UNPP, we ought to have referred them to the constituted law of Kano State, upon which the Government drawn aspiration to dethrone and banish the Emir.
“We further admonish that UNPP should desist from delving into issues of traditional institutions but stick to their real political ideals, if indeed they have any,” it said.
