The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, says it has begun enumeration of 105, 693 pupils in Yobe under the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme, NHGSFG.
Maidugu Hassan, the Team-Lead of the programme, made the disclosure on Monday while supervising the exercise at Bundigari and Dikumari Primary Schools in Damatruru Local Government Area of the state.
Hassan said that 54 enumerators were engaged to facilitate smooth conduct of the exercise aimed at developing a data base preparatory to expanding the programme as directed by the Federal Government.
Hassan said about 772 cooks were also hired for feeding of the pupils in 248 schools across the state.
In his remarks, Ali Audu, Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA) in the state, said the Agency had conducted sensitisation activities to create awareness on the part of parents and guardians on the importance of the programme.
Mr Audu, represented by Garba Ali, Chief Administration Officer, said the Agency had visited the schools severally, provided enumeration forms to the pupils and guided them in filling the forms.
Also, Abba Mohammed, a Primary 3 pupil at Bundigari Primary School, thanked the Federal Government for the scheme, saying it had encouraged him to be punctual at class.
