Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the 2023 general elections, Adewole Adebayo, has declared that his party would defeat President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 general elections.

Mr Adewale made the declaration while appearing on Arise Television’s The Morning Show on Friday.

“Tinubu is going to be removed from policy power, that one is sure, and there will be an SDP president,” he said.

Mr Adebayo also declared his intent to contest for the presidency in 2027, adding that he will clinch the party’s ticket regardless of prominent politicians defecting to the SDP.

He noted that he’s not afraid or threatened by the defectors.

He said: “Let us understand something. I don’t worry about that; everybody who is coming in knows I will run in 2027.

“Any coward who will feel threatened by people coming to his party cannot be president.”

On the defection of former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, to the SDP, Mr Adebayo described him as a hard-working and patriotic Nigerian.

He added that the ex-governor is very effective in an area where there are no effective people in government.

He said: “The reason why I welcome El-Rufai to my party is that I see him as a patriotic Nigerian, hard-working, and very effective in an area where we don’t have effective people in government; that’s all.”
