Rabiu Auwal, a passionate voice in the #SecureNorth, a group campaigning against insecurity in northern Nigeria, has been killed by suspected bandits in Kaduna.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the bandits attacked returning travelers and passers-by on Friday night near Rigasa train station in Kaduna.

Although witnesses said a number people sustained gunshot injuries, the casualty figure could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.
One of Mr Auwal’s friends, Nura Usman wrote on Facebook: “In his quest to push for Security and safety of the North he change his Profile DP on WhatsApp and Facebook all to #SecureNorth frame. Unknown to him, he will be consume by same Insecurity. Comrade Rabiu Auwal has done his best while alive to draw the attention of the authority to do it major responsibility of Securing the lives and Property of the People.”
The funeral rites for the deceased activist, who was a graduate of Agricultural Engineering from Bayero University, Kano, took place on Saturday morning Yankifi, Rigasa.
Spokesman for the Kaduna Police Command, Mohammed Jalige, promises to give update on the incident as soon as he receives report from the Divisional Police Office in Rigasa.
