A former senator who represented Taraba South in the National Assembly, Joel Ikenya, has debunked media reports of his plans to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The senator, in a telephone interview with DAILY NIGERIAN shortly after the news broke that himself and the former Taraba acting governor, Abubakar Danladi, among many others, were perfecting plans to dump the All Progressives Congress, APC, described the report as a mere rumour.

Mr Ikenya said: “I was shocked down to my bone marrow when I saw in the newspaper that I am intending to decamp to the PDP. I remain an APC member and I have not held any meeting with anybody, talk less of decamping.

“This is the handiwork of my detractors, possibly in the Taraba APC. I, however, want to reassure my teaming supporters that I remain in the APC and will actualise my vision for Taraba state in APC come 2019,” Mr Ikenya, a former minister of labour and productivity, asserted.
