Sha’aban: Sultan directs Muslims to look out for new moon

Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, has directed Muslim Ummah to look out for the new Moon of Sha’aban 1443AH from Thursday.

Sha’aban is the eighth month in the Islamic calendar which comes before the compulsory fasting month of Ramadan.

Sha’aban is the second month of worship in command to make arrangements for the grand and magnificent month of Ramadan (the month of fasting and mercy).

The Sultan gave the directive in a statement signed by Prof. Sambo Junaidu, Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto, and issued to newsmen on Wednesday.

“This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that Thursday March 3, 2022, which is equivalent to 29th day of Rajab 1443AH shall be the day to look out for the new moon of Sha’aban 1443AH.

“Muslim are, therefore, requested to start looking for the new moon on Thursday and report its sighting to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to the Sultan,’’ he said.

Mr Abubakar further prayed Allah to assist the Muslim Ummah in the discharge of their religious duties.
