Radical Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi, has criticized the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, over purchase of a N700million Abuja guest house for him by the Sokoto State Government.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the cleric shared the link of the story published by an online medium with a caption “N700m Sultan’s Abuja ‘Guest House'”, saying that the decision was wrong.

“This must be ‘the final nail in the coffin’ of our ‘fantastic corruption’.

“The insatiable opulence in the face of abject poverty that is killing, maiming millions of citizens, salary of workers unpaid, and devastating unemployment is the pinnacle of our national hypocrisy.

Mr Gumi said such action also make the youths become attracted to terrorism.

“This is why the youth in search of good leadership and role models are attracted to fanaticism and terror. This is what fuels terrorism.

“This is a period of national reflection and contemplation of the way forward. What does the future then say of these intuitions that are the scourge of the society?

“Islam has refused to be the victim of the iniquity of its supposed vanguards. Islam is today a standalone application in the universal operating system.

“Ordinarily I would have kept quite as I did on so many pressing national issues nowadays because I’ve come to realise that the depth of our hypocrisy is beyond comprehension.

“We say one thing and do the exact opposite. ‘O ye who believe! Why say ye that which ye do not?. Grievously odious is it in the sight of Allah that ye say that which ye do not.’ Q61/2-3.

“Our leaders are not honest and that is why we are plagued with endless problems and tribulations.

“It has been my conviction that the ‘fight against corruption’ needs to be done subtly with great sincerity and determination with emphasis on national reconciliation and forgiveness for it to succeed because I fear it will one day boomerang on those that raised the flag for political consideration, now it’s time to reap what is sowed.

“It’s either taken to its full conclusion whereby all heads should roll or we are faced with a disastrous complete failure. We seek Allah’s indulgence. May Allah help us out of this quagmire. Amin,” Mr Gumi added.
