Radical Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi, has revealed what he told a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, in a viral photo that sparked dozens of memes on social media.
In an interview with the BBC, the cleric said the picture was captured when he was telling Mr Atiku that people were sharing their picture together and insinuating that he (Mr Gumi) is member of the opposition PDP.
“We exchanged pleasantries after a wedding ceremony, and I told him about what people are saying about the picture.
“I told him that because of my photo with him and a former governor, people drew conclusion that I am a member of PDP.
“But the fact of the matter is what when the picture was taken, he was also a member of APC.
“I also told him that whenever people saw him with politicians, people attach political meaning to it.
“I told him that I am not a politician. I am neither a member of PDP nor APC but I lend my voice to any injustice against the people or Islam,” he said.
Mr Gumi noted that abuse from his critics would not stop him from telling the truth.
