The Senior Special Assistant to the Kano State governor on Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, Zulyadaini Mustapha, has made an open call for political violence against opposition politicians in the state.
The first target of Goal 16 of the SDGs, which is included in the 2030 Agenda, calls for significant reductions in “…all forms of violence and related death rates everywhere”.
But the governor’s aide, in a series of Facebook posts, urged for a tit-for-tat response to anyone who seems to be an opponent to the government.
His tirade is coming a day after supporters of the state’s former governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, escaped death when they came under attack during a procession at the Eid-el-Kabir durbar.
Mr Kwankwaso’s former Secretary to the State Government, who was equally Ganduje’s SSG before his removal, former commissioner and some staunch supporters were attacked during ‘Hawan Daushe’ durbar on Saturday.
But Mr Mustapha, on his Facebook page early hours of Sunday, posted that “if they abuse you, attack them; if they stone you, shoot them and when they run away, leave them.”
Already, the postings have drawn a lot of criticisms and comments on social media, with majority faulting the governor’s aide.
Since the attack on Saturday, the political atmosphere in the state has become tense, with people expressing their angst against a looming reprisal attack.
