Siasia leads PSG-IRUKKA talent hunt

French Lique One champions, Paris St. Germain (PSG) and Nigerian company, IRUKKA, have opened a window that will provide opportunities for the country’s budding talents to hone their skills in a controlled environment.

The talent hunt, according to the organisers, is designed to search and scout for young football talents between the ages of 13 and 17 years in Nigeria for further nurturing and development in France.

The screening will hold between May and July in 14 cities, they said, adding that N3, 000 entry forms would be available in all UBA branches and accredited agents across the country.

On Thursday in Lagos, the partnership unveiled Super Eagles’ former coach, Samson Siasia as the brand ambassador of the Paris Saint Germain-IRUKKA football talent hunt, which according to its promoters, will also help Nigerian footballers acquire good education in reputable institutions.

Speaking at the presentation of the project, the Managing Director, PSG-IRUKKA, Chinedu Oguike said Siasia having coached virtually all the age-group national teams in the country represents the ideals of the project.

He added, “Siasia’s dynamism in coaching and youths development speaks volume and we cannot but identify with him to assist us project this initiative.”The former Dream Team VI handler commended the organisers of the project for creating a platform for the national team coaches to pick players from.“With a project such as this our coaches can visit the data base and pick players as it is always difficult to discover players and teach them how to play,” he said.
