The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Kaduna State Chapter, Emmanuel Jakada has said that the suspension of the senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, is unconstitutional.
Recall that at the heat of the political face-off between Mr Sani and Governor Nasir El-Rufai, a statement was issued by Ward Six Chairman, Tudun Wada North Chapter of the APC, Ibrahim Salisu Togo, suspending the senator without clearly stating his offence.
However, speaking with Tribune in Kaduna on Thursday, Mr Jagaba said a serving senator cannot be suspended on the pages of newspapers.
He added: “Suspension cannot take effect on the pages of a newspaper. There are a lot of constitutional processes to be followed before you can pronounce somebody suspended. There must be a committee to find out the allegations.
“As the Chairman, I have set up a committee to reconcile the aggrieved members so I expect that if there was an issue with any of the aggrieved member it is supposed to be directed to the reconciliation committee.
“Am so surprised that I am hearing this from you people, I have not seen anything like that on my table. I don’t believe that the right thing according to the constitution has been done.”
