Skyline University Nigeria: Kano’s first private varsity takes off with 82 pioneer students

Skyline University Nigeria, SUN, the first private university established in Kano State on Saturday matriculated 82 pioneer students admitted into the 2018/2019 academic session.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the students were admitted into various Bachelors’ degree programmes in School of Arts, Management & Social Sciences, SAMSS, as well as the School of Sciences and Information Technology, SSIT.

Speaking during the maiden matriculation ceremony, held at the university’s campus in Kano, Vice-Chancellor Sudhakar Kota challenged the students to take advantage of the opportunity to become successful individuals and responsible citizens of the country.

According to him, the institution, which received its license from the National University Commission, NUC on May 28 last year, would soon provide more programs on legal studies, engineering and basic medical courses.

Mr Kota, a professor, assured that the institution would provide its students with quality inputs, technological integration, learning resources and use internationally accepted pedagogies that would enhance their knowledge, skills and competencies with values.

He also restated the university’s commitment to ensure that the students are comfortable and attain their dreams at the end, restating the institution’s commitment to the protection of the environment and urged the students to contribute their quota towards achieving the set-out goals.

“The 2018/2019 academic year is indeed a good start for Skyline University Nigeria. SUN has given assurance to provide you with quality inputs, technological integration, learning resources and use internationally accepted pedagogies that will enhance your knowledge, skills and competencies with values,” he said.

In his remarks, the special guest of honor at the event, Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II, encouraged Kano residents to apply to the university in view of its global standard.

According to him, the university has been equipped with high-quality lecturers and facilities, adding that the institution was conducive for acquiring quality education and encouraging self-employment and job creation.

He reassured the University of the support of the state government and Kano Emirate Council in its quest to providing quality education and conducive atmosphere of learning.
