Sokoto commissioner empowers 50 women with N200,000 grant each

The Sokoto State Commissioner of Finance, Abdussamad Dasuki, has empowered no fewer than 50 women with N200,000 grants each under his skills acquisition and empowerment program tagged #WorkYourWayYourself series.

The beneficiaries were drawn from 11 wards of the Tambuwal Local Government Area of the state.

Presenting the grant to the beneficiaries, the commissioner, who was represented by the Tambuwal Local Government Chairman, Nasir Babata, urged the women to ensure proper utilization of the grant.

“While we continue to support you, it’s high time you walk your way by yourself,” he said.

“Hon Abdussamad Dasuki asked me to inform you that this is a starting point. In line with Gov. Tambuwal’s policy of empowerment and self-reliance, we shall continue to do more.

“So everyone shall get ready to benefit from our empowerment programs as you continue to utilize it judiciously,” Mr Babata added.

Earlier in his remarks, an elder in the community, Tambari Dahiru, commended Mr Dasuki, and the administration of Governor Aminu Tambuwal for empowering youths and women.

Also speaking, the Manager of NIRSAL Bank, Tambuwal Branch, through which the grant was disbursed, Abdurraheem Muhammad, commended Mr Dasuki’s efforts, urging other politicians to emulate him.

He said: “We at NIRSAL say kudos to Hon. Dasuki. These are kind of empowerments we want to be seeing from politicians.”

On his part, the Youth Council Chairman of Tambuwal LGA, Engr. Mubarak Alhassan expressed his happiness over the grant, saying that “these are kind of empowerments we need not petty trader empowerment of N5,000 and N10,000”.

“I, therefore, say kudos to Abdussamad Dasuki. You’re one in a million”, he added.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Aisha Muhammad-Tambuwal, promised to make good use of the grant.

“We cannot waste this opportunity as we cannot afford to disappoint Hon Abdussamad Dasuki,” she assured.
