Abba Hikima, the lawyer of a teenage activist Hamdiyya Sharif has raised alarm over her whereabouts.
In a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Mr Hikima said the 18-year-old activist had been missing since around 10pm on Tuesday.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Ms Shariff came to the limelight in November, 2024, after she was arrested, dehumanised and assaulted for criticising Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto.
She was subsequently arraigned before a Sokoto Magistrate Court where she is facing charges of alleged incitement and spreading false information.
According to him, she went out to purchase food and had not returned since then.
He disclosed that the Nigeria Police Force has been informed about the development.
In a “missing person alert” posted on his Facebook page, Mr Hikima said: “Hamdiyya has been missing since 10:00AM yesterday. She went out to buy foodstuffs in Sokoto and has not been seen since.
“The Sokoto State Police has already been informed,” Mr Hikima said.
