The nominee for the chairmanship of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has denied selling the seized property in EFCC custody at its Port Harcourt Zonal office.
Recall that an online news platform that is not DAILY NIGERIAN had alleged that Mr Bawa was arrested and detained by the Agency under former Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, over the illegal sale of 244 forfeited trucks to proxies in Port Harcourt.
Also, the EFCC had in a statement on Wednesday, February 17 by its spokesperson, Wison Uwujarem, denied the allegation, saying that Mr Bawa was never arrested or detained over the sale of any assets.
Mr Bawa made the denial on Wednesday while making his speech during his screening at the floor of the Senate.
According to him, the seized property in Port Harcourt was properly disposed of by the agency’s officials from its headquarters.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had appointed the 40-year-old trained EFCC investigator and had forwarded his name to the Senate for confirmation as the substantive head of the country’s anti-graft agency.
