The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Sports and Youth development, Othman Boss, has disclosed that a private firm, Discount Business Bureau Nig. Ltd., is planning to establish a Sports University in the state.
The commission, who made the disclosure in an interview with DAILY NIGERIAN on Friday in Lafia, said the state government was ready to welcome any individual and organization to the state for investments.
According to him, the present administration is investor-friendly and ready to open up its doors to those who are willing to bring development to the state.
“There are several proposals on my table and the proposed University is part of them and the state government is ever ready to provide the enabling environment to attract investors to the state,” Mr Boss added.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the institution will be sited at Keffi Local Government Area of the state.
In a letter dated March 13, signed by the Managing Director of the company, Mohammed Bashar, addressed to the state governor, Abdullahi Sule, said that the idea was to promote sporting activities and create employment opportunities for the youth in the state and the country as a whole.
It was learned that the company had already approached the National University Commission, NUC, for accreditation.
