SSS busts railway vandalism syndicate, arrests retired police inspector, 5 others in Plateau

By Muhammad Salisu – The State Security Service, SSS, in Plateau State has busted a syndicate that specializes in railway vandalism in Bukuru of Jos South Local Government Area of the state.

DAILY NIGERIAN correspondent gathered that the gang leader, Garba Audu, who is a retired police inspector, was arrested while driving a vehicle loaded with questionable items.

An SSS deputy director who led the operations told our correspondent in confidence that the arrest led to a raid at the gang’s hideout, resulting in the arrest of five other members of the syndicate.

The director added that 6 trucks of railways and 18 rolls of electrical cables were also recovered.

According to him, the store where the items were retrieved is situated behind the ‘B’ Division of the Nigerian police in Bukuru, adding that the unit manager of the Bukuru railway station was also arrested.

“The retired police inspector, Garba Audu, and 5 others have been arrested. The unit manager of the Bukuru railway station was also arrested,” he said.
