Another convener of #NoMoreBloodshed protests, Ibrahim Birniwa, has been invited for questioning by the State Security Service, SSS, in Kaduna.
One of the national conveners of the protests, Rahma Abdulmajid, confirmed the invitation of the activist to DAILY NIGERIAN, saying “another one of us” has been invited by the SSS for protesting against insecurity.
The service on Friday invited one of the protesters in Kano, Zainab Ahmed, for questioning over her participation in protest against insecurity and wanton killings in many parts of the North.
After a couple of hours of grilling, Ms Ahmed announced that she would no longer participate in the protest.
On Saturday afternoon, the service invited Mr Birniwa to its Kaduna office for questioning for calling for protest against President Muhammadu Buhari over insecurity.
Mr Birniwa wrote on his Facebook page in Hausa: “When are we holding a major protest against Buhari? What are we waiting for?”
After the invitation, Mr Birniwa deleted the “injurious” post from his Facebook timeline.
On Friday, youths stormed the streets of some Northern cities over the widespread killings in the region.
Although Nigeria is currently facing a high wave of insecurity, bandits and terrorists have stepped up attacks in the north despite efforts of the government to contain them.
The protesters, who were wielding placards, have organised the protests simultaneously in Kano, Bauchi, Zamfara, Sokoto States and Abuja.
