The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, on Tuesday, warned Governor Nasir El-Rufai and all the Kaduna politicians to stop propagating hate speeches as the country is preparing for the 2019 general elections.
Recall that on March 29, Mr El-Rufai had lost his cool over refusal of three senators from the state to approve of the loan he planned to secure from the World Bank, a development that made the governor to curse the three senators, saying they are bastard who do not have origins.
However, while presenting his address at the Annual Pre- Ramadan lectures organised by the Jama’atul Nasirul Islam, JNI, in Kaduna, the Sultan suggested that the attitude of the governor towards his perceived adversaries is becoming worrisome and disturbing.
He, therefore, called on them (Kaduna politicians) to close their ranks and stop the hate speech because Kaduna is key to the survival of the region.
The Sultan also called for caution on the use of social media among the people as politicians would do everything to promote religious, tribal, ethnic sentiments.
Also speaking, the Secretary-General of JNI, Khalid Abubakar, called on the Muslims to remain within the confines the teachings of the Prophet, SAW, during Ramadan.
The sec-gen charged those who will be conducting tafsir (preaching sessions) in Mosques to abide by the guidelines spelt out by JNI.
The JNI scribe also called on the preachers to be cautious about the movement of Shiah to Abuja and its environs, saying, they no longer use their black attire but disguise into the community.
“The rise in bomb blasts in recent time is a wake-up call to the Ummah and the need for adequate vigilance cannot be overemphasized.
“Hence, our tafsir centres should be well equipped with security gadgets and personnel to man the control of people during tafsir sessions,” he declared.
