Islamic clerics from across Sokoto State have organized a prayer session to seek the face of God in the forthcoming Supreme Court judgement on the validity of the election that produced Aminu Tambuwal as the governor of the state.
Recall that the apex court had fixed January 20 for the final verdict on the March 9 governorship elections for Sokoto, Kano, Benue, Plateau and Adamawa states.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the clerics who converged on the Central Eid Ground for the prayer session were led by Tukur Rijiyar-Zaure, Bala Marina and Aliyu Danbaba, among others.
Some of the clerics who spoke with our correspondent expressed their fear that if the will of the people is truncated, there would not be peace in the state.
According to them, Mr Tambuwal’s coming as a governor has helped rid the state of so many social vices, including homosexuality, drugs, thuggery and many others.
