Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has summoned security meeting over the killing of a student and mother of seven children by the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, personnel in the state.

Recall that DAILY NIGERIAN had exclusively reported how NAF soldiers stormed the Mabera quarters of Sokoto metropolis, killing a student, Abdulsalam Lawan and a mother of seven, Maryam Abdulrahman over NAF officer’s girlfriend.

However, following widespread condemnation, the governor had to cut short his official engagements outside the state to convoke the security meeting over the incident.

A statement by Mr Tambuwal’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Muhammad Bello, and made available to newsmen on Tuesday, said the governor visited the families of the victims, expressing dismay over the alleged killing of the two persons.

“We condemn this unwholesome development, which is perhaps the first of its type to occur in the state.

“We want to assure the people of the state that the state government, in close collaboration with the security operatives with whom we have very cordial relationship, will not rest on its oars until the perpetrators of this dastardly act are brought to book on the shortest possible time.

“We pray that this type of act will not repeat itself again. We also pray for the soul of those killed and condole the family and people of the state,” the governor stated.

However, Governor Tambuwal announced automatic scholarship to all the seven children left by one of the deceased from Primary to University level.

He also directed automatic employment to the surviving brother of one of the victims who is participating in National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.
