Information reaching DAILY NIGERIAN indicated a growing tension in the Sharada Quarters area of Kano State as the operatives of the Anti-Daba Squad of the Police Command have allegedly killed two residents.
According to an unconfirmed report by Daily Trust, the victims, identified as Abubakar Isah and Ibrahim Sulaiman (Mainasara), were shot dead on Saturday by the police when they stormed the area.
“Unconfirmed report says the police were in the habit of extorting the youths of the area but the same attempt was resisted on Saturday which resulted to the use of live ammunition and the death of two,” the report said.
The Command Spokesman, Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest of the personnel, who he said went to Sharada to arrest some hoodlums together with some civilians on a Keke Napep but the situation turned violent, resulting to the killing of the two youths.
He said: “It is true that some officers of the Anti-Daba Squad, in the company of some civilians, went on a Adaidaita Sahu [Keke Napep] to arrest some hoodlums but later reports indicate two persons were allegedly killed.”
Mr Kiyawa, who said that the officers were arrested on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Habu Sani, added that investigation to unravel the fact of the matter had since commenced.
