A former senator representing Kaduna Central at the 8th National Assembly has lamented the spate of insecurity in Kaduna State, saying that the terrorists have “become a shadow government”.

Mr Sani, who stated this on his Facebook page, said the terrorists now operate with impunity, killing, kidnapping and ransacking villages at their will.

He added that the ugly trend has left everyone unsafe and insecure in the state.

“Kaduna is under the siege of bandits and terrorists. No one is safe and no one is secure. The terrorists kidnap and kill at the time and place of their choice.

“They have razed down villages and impoverished families through ransom payments. Terrorists have become a shadow government,” he said.

The former lawmaker, who has been critical of government over deteriorating security, said he has lost confidence in the current administration’s ability to combat the threat.

“For years, I spoke as a lone ranger and have been insulted and defamed for telling the truth about our state and now we are living the reality that was ignored. Those who blindly supported and defended the failure of the Government also have some stain of blood on their hands.

“However, it’s instructive to note that recently, the kidnapping and killings of Catholic priests in the state by terrorists have become systemic. I have lost hope on this government. The only thing to expect from them is to go. We look ahead to the next government to save our country and protect our people,” Mr Sani posted.
