The Nation editor, Sam Omatseye, urges CAN to arm Southern Kaduna Christians

The chairman of the the Editorial Board of The Nation newspapers, Sam Omatseye, has urged Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, to arm Southern Kaduna Christians in order to defend themselves.

screenshot_2016-12-02-15-31-11Mr. Omatseye, a journalist and columnist, took to his Twitter handle to bare his mind on the crisis rocking the area, saying the offertory be emptied for arm purchase.

The journalist’s belligerent remarks drew both condemnations and commendations from the users of the micro blogging site.

“102 killed and 50000 houses razed in southern Kaduna. Isn’t it time for CAN to use its tithes to buy arms for Christians for self defense?” Mr. Omatseye wrote.

“Same happened when govt didn’t defend Itsekiris against Ijaws, they armed themselves and ended the war. It’s called balance of terror.”

The columnist later retorted when he came under fire for his comments.
