Nigerian military to settle 3 years’ pension

The Nigerian Military Pensions Board has said 33% pension arrears owed military pensioners would be paid on quarterly basis this year.

In a statement Saturday by the spokesman for the board Ikenna Ezendu, the arrangement is in line with “the federal government’s effort to fulfil its agreement with military pensioners in 2014.”

“The Nigerian Military Pensions Board (MPB) has paid the Third Quarter 33 percent pension arrears.

“It was agreed that 33% pension arrears owed military pensioners will be paid on quarterly basis for three years,” said Mr Ikenna, a squadron leader.

The Military Pensions Board had, in May, 2016, said the payment of 33 per cent increment arrears owed military pensioners since 2010 would be completed by the end of 2017.

This was made made known in an interview of the board’s chairman, Air Vice-Marshal Muhammad Dabo, with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.

Assuring of the board’s commitment, MPB spokesman said, “this is to inform our esteemed pensioners that Military Pensions Board has paid third quarter 33% pension arrears.”
